January 14, 2021 0830 hours - Right of Entry
Right of Entry Course will cover the inspectors right of entry during an inspection. The curriculum will break down the language in the model code and the rights that community members have that are covered in the constitution. Pertinent case law will be reviewed.
February 11, 2021 0830 hours - Alternative Materials
Alternative Materials Course will cover Section 104.9 of the International Fire Code. The International Codes do not intend to prohibit any materials, designs or methods as long as it meets the nationally recognized standards. This course dives into what this means for the local jurisdiction.
March 25, 2021 0830 hours - Mobile Food Preparation Vehicles
This course will cover the new addition to the 2018 International Fire Code in Section 319. Mobile food prep vehicles have been increasing in popularity throughout many communities. Curriculum will address the hazards involved and how to best mitigate them.
April 22, 2021 0830 hours - Chapter 8 and Educational Facilities
Decorative material and artwork are a consistent theme in many classrooms across the country! What does the International Fire Code have to say about it? More importantly, what does this mean for the authority having jurisdiction? Coverage of Chapter 8 of the 2018 International Fire Code will answer these questions.
May 20, 2021 0830 hours - Integrated Testing
Integrated Testing Course will address the newly added Section in Chapter 9 of the 2018 International Fire Code. Multiple fire protection systems tied together; relying on each other to operate in a manner that protects life and property can create challenges to the local authority having jurisdiction. This curriculum will cover how these new additions to the code give the local AHJ the tools to address these challenges.
June 24, 2021 0830 hours - Aerosol Fire Extinguishing Systems
Aerosol Fire Extinguishing Systems are a welcomed addition to Section 904 of the International Fire Code. New technology has opened the door for an alternate fire extinguishing system that has cost and effectiveness benefits. This curriculum will be an overview of how these systems work and some of the benefits that are offered when utilizing aerosol fire extinguishing systems.
July 22, 2021 0830 hours - Construction Documents for Tents and Membrane Structures
This course addresses the requirements for tent and membrane structures in Chapter 31 of the 2018 International Fire Code. These types of structures present unique requirements that are often overlooked. Sections 1606 through 1609 of the International Building Code will be discussed.
August 19, 2021 0830 hours - Evaluating Group A plastics in High-Piled Storage
What are group A plastics? How do you navigate Chapter 32 of the International FIre Code? This course answers some of the common questions and concerns related to chapter 32 of the International Fire Code.
September 16, 0830 hours - Tire Storage Chapter 34
Chapter 34 of the International Fire Code covers hazards related to outdoor tire storage. This curriculum will cover the intent of this chapter and how it relates to smaller operations within your jurisdiction. It may be time to amend your local ordinance.
October 14, 2021 0830 hours - Higher Education Laboratories: Laboratory Suite Construction
What is laboratory suite construction? This curriculum covers Chapter 38 of the International Fire Code and how these additions affect your jurisdiction.
November 18, 2021 0830 hours - Safety Data Sheets and Chapter 50 HazMat
Chapter 50 of the International Fire Code has long been a challenging, and at times a confusing portion of the code. This course will address the relationship between the SDS sheets of the stored material and how to practically apply these to this chapter.
December 16, 2021 0830 hours - Protection of Compressed Gases
Protection of Compressed Gasses course offers overlooked solutions to a very common code violation found during a fire code inspection. Compressed gas cylinders can prove to be a challenging compliance issue. Nesting will be discussed in detail.
