This is for all fire officials and code officials whether you are new or looking to gain more this is for you!
The Washington State Association of Fire Marshals is pleased to announce the dates for the 2027 Fire Prevention Symposium (FPS). The FPS is being held at Angel of the Winds Casino Resort at Arlington, and will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2027, and will conclude at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2027.
Invest in your career and your community at the 2027 Washington State Association of Fire Marshals Leadership Symposium. The program offers two tracks: one for leaders pursuing professional designation, and one for prevention professionals building advanced technical skills.
Leadership Track: Preparing for CPSE Designation
This track is built around the professional designation programs of the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE), with a focus on the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) and Fire Marshal (FM) designations. CPSE designation recognizes career achievement and leadership through a rigorous peer-review process, and candidates must build a portfolio documenting their technical competence, education, professional development, community involvement, and more.
Sessions will walk you through the core components of that portfolio and help you strengthen the knowledge and skills our communities count on us for. Whether you’re ready to apply or just starting to plan, you’ll leave with a clear path forward.
Technical Track: Intermediate and Advanced Fire Code
Designed for fire marshals, deputy fire marshals, and inspectors, this track bridges the gap between foundational knowledge and advanced practice. Topics include complex code application, fire dynamics, and fire investigation techniques, all focused on the real-world challenges you face in plan review, inspection, and community risk reduction.
Come away with practical tools you can put to work right away, and help lead your agency’s prevention efforts with confidence.
Registration includes: All Sessions, Breakfast, Lunch, and Taxes
Important note that every registration needs to have the attendees email
NO DUPLICATE EMAILS.
There will be power provided for computer usage.
Topics this year include: What is Your Why, Career Survival, Road Map to CFO & FM Designation, Hazardous Materials Code Review, Building Official and Fire Official Coffee Table Talk. The FPS is smaller using only two classrooms, so registration may be limited depending upon demand.
