WSAFM Announces its Quarterly Newsletter….


Thanks to suggestions by the members of the Washington State Association of Fire Marshals, we are proud to be issuing the first quarterly email newsletter.  The purpose of this newsletter is to inform the members of the activities that the Board and other members are involved in as well as to provide education and resources to our members.    Why do we need a newsletter? 

Keep up to date with new information  
Receive notification of upcoming code hearings or changes  
Provide a regular notice to members of upcoming activities 

 What is WSAFM? The Washington State Association of Fire Marshals is an organization comprised of seven divisions working on: National Codes, State Codes, Legislative Issues, Professional Development, Communications, Fire Prevention Institute, and Fire Investigation.  Membership in the Washington State Association of Fire Marshals is open to individuals in four categories: Governmental, Associate, Educational and Retired. There are many benefits to membership for individuals in all categories.

9 Apr 2020 WSAFM 2018 IFC Code Update Classes - Bremerton 4/9/2020 9:00 AM
Stay up to date with the latest changes to the Fire Code! Attend WSAFM's Fire Code Update class! As most of you are aware, the 2018 International Fire Code goes into effect July 1st, 2020 in the State of Washington. This one-day course will cover code changes from the 2015 to the 2018 edition of the International Fire Code. In addition, a review of the latest Washington State amendments to the Fire Code will be covered.

This course is being offered in multiple locations throughout the State starting in April and running until June (or earlier). 0.65 ICC Preferred Provider CEU's will be awarded to those attending! Lunch and some snacks will be provided.  The classes will normally run from 9am thru 4pm.

20 Apr 2020 Fire Inspector 1 Boot Camp 4/20/2020 - 4/23/2020
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This four-day class will cover in-depth details of all aspects of a fire code inspection. Students will learn to identify common code violations found in the International Fire Code and International Building Code. It will include a simulated inspection that allows the class participants to engage in scenarios they are likely to see in the field. Day two and three will focus on more advanced fire code inspection topics. It is designed to assist in the identification of fire protection systems, as well as what maintenance is required on such systems. Students will be able to identify when systems are required or when they have been altered and require repair. Day four will be all about navigating the codes and getting familiar with the layout of the IFC and IBC. Participants will be going through question and answer segments to help with test preparation for the Fire Inspector 1 certification through the International Code Council.
